Recently I purchased a bundle of Our Lady's Miraculous Medals on cords. I purchased them so I could give them to people who I thought would like one, particularly if they were going through a stressful time. Today, I went to my bundle to pull out a few and they were all tied up together, in a huge knot. I did what most people would do, started pulling on them all, shaking the bunch and trying to untangle one or two to start with. After a few minutes I realised that I wasn't really getting anywhere, they were just as tangled, if not worse than before I started.

Then came the thought of praying to Our Lady Undoer of Knots.

I love Our Lady. Mother Mary. Virgin Mary. Whatever you prefer to call her, she is always there for us. Our Lady has come to aid on many, many times in my life when I have called on her. She holds a special place in my heart. I decided to call on her now, as Mary Undoer of Knots as I know friends who pray to her when they have 'knots' in their life which need untying. They might be metaphorical knots, and mine were literal knots, but I knew she would help if I turned to her.

I prayed to Our Lady to help me keep my peace as I untied the cords of the medals. I asked for her to help me untie them.

As I continued to untangle the cords I realised that if I laid them out on the bed, instead of just pulling on individual ones, I could slowly thread each one through another one, then leave it where it ended, then choose another one and thread that through, lay it down and so on. I realised that undoing this bunch of knots, was much like undoing knots in my life. I can try to untangle everything at once, pulling on that issue and working on that one, but it's not easy. However, when taking the time to lay it all out in front of myself, and working a little bit at a time on each one, the path to untying them all would become much clearer. I slowly worked through each of the 10 cords, little by little, following where each one should go, to untangle it from the others. As I did this, I realised I had peace. Only minutes ago I was pulling at them frantically and jangling them as if that would make them fall apart. Now, I was slowly and methodicaly feeding them through each other and watching as slowly each one was separated. I could work on one for a bit, place it back down and move on to the next one. I could pick and choose which one I'd work on next, and then take my time to find out the path that was best for it to follow, to be able to be set free.

I very quickly realised that not only was Our Lady guiding me to undo the knots, but she was showing me how this was a great way to undo knots in my life, and to help others undo the knots in their life. She also showed me how quickly and how efficiently she can help...when we just ask.

Do you have 'knots' in your life? Why not ask Our Lady to help you undo them, little by little, strand by strand, laying them down when you have had enough, and see how wonderfully beautiful her help can be.
